Restocking my dried winter chanterelle jars! ♡

The typical and most prolific ‘yellow legs’ variety is Craterellus tubaeformis with its mid- to espresso-brown caps camouflaged in the brackeny needle litter, they dry and rehydrate brilliantly and develop a deep earthy flavour on dessication which can be added to many a dish

I also found a few patches of the golden chanterelle Craterellus lutescens with its smoother underside and bright, all-yellow colourway especially when young, though browning slightly on top with age and exposure to light, and they’re often rather frilly when mature, always a pleasure to see
